Daniel Ricciardo is “ready to go” as he prepares to return from injury for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix dumaguete
The 34-year-old Australian has missed the past five races after he broke his left hand in practice for the Dutch Grand Prix on August 25 dumaguete
Ricciardo, who took part in a Red Bull demonstration run in Nashville last weekend, will be back in his AlphaTauri cockpit for practice at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas on Friday dumaguete
New Zealander Liam Lawson, who has impressed as Ricciardo’s stand-in, will make way dumaguete
He said: “It’s good to be back! My hand is much dumaguete better and the simulator was a useful way of assessing it dumaguete
“I tried it out in the week before Qatar, but I didn’t feel it was at full potential, so I spent the rest of that week in the UK, spending more time in the sim, and got to a point where I felt ready to go dumaguete
“My overall fitness is fine as I kept training as much as I could, although I obviously couldn’t do much with my left hand or arm for a while dumaguete
“It was definitely frustrating watching the past few races, especially as I’d gotten myself to a place where I was so ready to go again and race, and then I did two events and had to hit pause again, but actually, the time without racing went quite quickly dumaguete
” Ricciardo was due to take part in only his third comeback race when he crashed in Zandvoort dumaguete
He was immediately taken to the medical centre before he was transported to a nearby hospital with his left arm in a sling dumaguete
A subsequent X-ray confirmed Ricciardo had sustained a break to the metacarpal on his left hand dumaguete
Ricciardo was ruled out of the race in Holland and the following rounds in Italy, Singapore, Japan and Qatar dumaguete
Ricciardo was handed a second chance by Red Bull’s junior team AlphaTauri following his dismissal by McLaren at the end of last season dumaguete
Despite his injury, AlphaTauri announced last month that they have retained the eight-time grand prix winner winner for 2024 alongside Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda dumaguete

Amanda Serrano retained her featherweight titles against Danila Ramos in the first women’s world title fight held over 12, three-minute rounds since 2007 dumaguete
Serrano won by unanimous decision after dominating the contest in Orlando to maintain her grip on the WBO, WBA and IBF world featherweight titles and put herself in contention for a rematch against Katie Taylor, who has a rematch of her own with Chantelle Cameron next month dumaguete
The 35-year-old's WBC title was not on the line as the sanctioning body refuses to extend the length of rounds in women's dumaguete boxing, citing "safety and well-being" concerns dumaguete
Women's bouts are usually contested over 10 two-minute rounds, with 16 years since the last time women contested a bout over three-minute rounds, when Layla McCarter defeated Donna Biggers and Melissa Hernandez in 2007 in fights scheduled for three-minute rounds dumaguete
But despite the extra workload, Serrano insists she could not tell the difference on the night, though Ramos was unable to push her to the limit dumaguete
"I went through the whole fight and I still have the energy to hold all my belts," said Serrano, who won all 12 rounds dumaguete
"This was a historic night dumaguete
I hope it's just the beginning, because I know there are a lot of women coming after me dumaguete
I know the future is bright for us dumaguete
"In the sixth round, I was like, is it really three minutes or did they go back to two minutes?Amanda Serrano defended her titles against Danila Ramos (EPA)"I felt good dumaguete
I was in really good shape dumaguete
I trained really hard for this fight knowing I had to go out there and prove to everybody, prove people right or prove people wrong, that women can do whatever they put their minds to dumaguete
"Some fans have called for three-minute rounds with the theory that more time spent in the ring will increase the probability of a knockout and therefore make the bout more exciting dumaguete
